how can i lose weight when i have no access to healthy food? (Answers: 6) (Comments: 0)

I am a 20yrs old girl (weight 215.6lbs and height 5’6”). I wanted to watch my diet not so much for beauty purposes than health care. I always read health magazine or browse the internet etc etc but it doesn’t help because: 1) The recommended health foods are all foreign food e.g. salad n oats that even if they were locally available it was only in supermarket of malls in major cities plus; 2) it wasn’t cheap and; 3) I don’t know how to substitute it with local veggie or fruits because I don’t know how to count the calories in anything edible. I am currently living in Malaysia. Additionally, I have no access to healthy food because we’re not allowed to cook inside our room in campus and the foods sold are all oily and high in calories. I am also having the intention of doing some exercise. My only source of exercise right now is walking to and fro to classes that included climbing a very high stairs. I am too embarrassed to be seen doing any cardio exercises and I don’t know how to swim. I don’t want a fast result. I just want to have my eating problem resolved and watching my diet the fun way.

I travel alot; It depends on where I'm at but, sometimes have to eat at McDonald's, Burger King etc. I lift weights and try to run as much as I can but its hard to find time to. I want to know what I could do to help me with my eating and exercise habits.

How can I eat healthier when my access to healthy foods is pretty limited? (Answers: 2) (Comments: 0)

So I live in a really small town and, because she can, the owner of the grocery store charges a lot for veggies and fruits. Most of them are pretty old and moldy too, but anyway... I want to eat healthier, and not have to sacrifice a lot for taste. I recently have started jogging/running (only about 2 miles now, hopefully get it up higher soon), and I realize that it's not going to make me leaner if I don't eat better. You see, my school doesn't have healthy choices either. The lunch program offers really huge portions and the food is extremely good (weird right? The head cook dude used to work at a restaurant though) so I can't really eat there without over-eating. My usual other choice is to eat at the gas station by my school. Usually there I get a gut bomb (like a chicken sandwich from the freezer, i think they are like deli-express or something) a bag of chips, some cookies and a water. I don't think that's very good either, and some days I really overeat there. So what should I do? I could eat at home, but like I said it's too expensive to buy healthy stuff. Plus I get sick of eating the same thing constantly, so buying in bulk when I can get it in another town where it's cheaper is mostly out too (it's not really cost effective, because so much gets thrown away). What am I to do? Should I just buck up and eat food I dislike? Or should I go the pussy way and just starve myself a couple weeks? ;D I liked both answers, I'm putting it to a vote :)

I am an actor, and I want to make sure that I am doing everything in my power to stay healthy. I have a gym membership at Extreme Fitness, that I try to go to every other day. I also ave access to healthy food, and keep my skin clean ( because I have acne ) so I use Spectrderm. I have 85% grade average in school as of right now. So I am wondering, what is the best way to organize and balance a healthy life style for a teenage actor. Anything to add, or help me stay motivated in doing?
